“Four Hundred Souls” Named Sycamore Associates 2023 Book of the Year
Four Hundred Souls, a Community History of African America, 1619 – 2019, edited by Ibram X. Kendi and Keisha N. Blain, has been named the Sycamore Associates Book of the Year for 2023.
“This collection of essays by Black writers, scholars, poets, and sages, is essential reading. Illuminating the complex and crushing weight of inequality, racism, and cruelty embedded in the American journey since the 17th century,” commented Winifred Pinet, Sycamore’s President.
Four Hundred Souls demonstrates the mind shift required for us all to work towards a better and fairer future. We will be exploring how we can move ahead to a greater truth telling as we live in the world. Our work in 2023 will be informed by the need to check our mythology at the door and act on facts.
