Don’t Delay Your Climate Reporting!
The recent court decision to delay enforcement of the California climate reporting law (SB261) has companies asking, “What next?”. The law, which was scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2026, requires public reporting for public and private companies doing business in California.
Our advice is to finish your report, on time, and then determine whether to post on January 1st based on your internal legal counsel. The judge will hear arguments on January 9th, so delaying your reporting effort may require a fire drill without this preparation if the regulation is upheld.
