Marcia A Banks

Marcia Banks is a risk management and corporate finance expert, with over 25 years’ professional experience in enterprise and portfolio risk management, corporate finance, and loan syndication. Marcia joined Sycamore Associates in 2005, following some 20 years at JPMorgan Chase (and predecessor companies Bank One and First Chicago/First Chicago NBD) where she held senior roles in portfolio management, loan syndication, and corporate finance. Marcia currently also serves as Deputy Director of the International Association of Credit Portfolio Managers (IACPM), a nonprofit industry association focused on risk and credit portfolio management practices.

Marcia meets regularly with a range of banks and financial institutions as well as banking regulators such as the United States Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and Federal Reserve, members of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, and others globally, to shape sound practices in the evolving discipline of credit risk management. Current areas of development include Credit Crisis Impact and Outlook, Credit Markets and Liquidity, LIBOR/IBOR Transition, Risk Appetite Frameworks, Risk Measurement, Climate Risk, and ESG. Marcia also conducts numerous risk and finance training seminars on behalf of Sycamore Associates and the IACPM on applied topics related to Risk Management, Corporate Finance and Markets, ESG, and Climate Risk Assessment. Marcia holds a BSFS degree in International Economics from The School of Foreign Service of Georgetown University, and an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Advisory Board of DePaul University’s Arditti Center for Risk Management and teaches graduate classes on risk management at the University of Illinois in Chicago.
