What are our Clients doing in this Volatile Market?
We have been thinking about volatility almost every day lately. The uncertainty underpinning trade policy, geopolitical alliances, investment strategy, rising or lowering rates, and the overall economy has revealed itself in a volatile equity market throughout the first half of 2019. This has come with a tightening in the credit climate, rising rates, and a natural tendency to watch for bad news as we turn the corner in a new year. But that very volatility also yields opportunity, in the context of a US economy that is steady and poised for continued growth, absent trade and tariff dislocation. Many of our clients are actively executing on their acquisition targets, and while not hiring in great numbers, nevertheless are pursuing a growth agenda. We will keep a watchful eye on credit markets going into the second half of 2019 and report here.
