New Rules, New Opportunities
The recent SEC rule has clarified to some extent the requirements for publicly-reporting companies when it comes to climate risk. For now, Scope 1 and 2 are in focus, and many companies will have their hands full meeting these requirements. According to a recent Standard & Poor’s survey, fully 36% of surveyed companies are not yet reporting Scope 1 and 2 emissions.
The new rules bring new opportunities for companies to get on the front foot in terms of preparedness, reporting acumen, accuracy of data, and steps to make the data meaningful. Reporting is the first stage in understanding how to connect data to action, and action to strategy.
We are excited for the days and years ahead and look forward to working with clients on these challenges.
